Physical Properties: Active magnesium oxide, molecular formula MgO, relative molecular mass 40.30. Its chemical composition and physical form do not differ significantly from those of ordinary magnesium oxide, but certain indicators of active magnesium oxide have different requirements compared to ordinary magnesium oxide. For instance, it must have an appropriate particle size distribution, with an average particle size of <2 µm (2000 nm); its microscopic form consists of irregular particles, near-spherical particles, or flake-like crystals; its activity, as indicated by the citric acid value (CAA value), ranges from 12 to 25 seconds (the lower the value, the higher the activity); activity measured by iodine absorption value ranges from 80 to 120 (mg I₂/100g MgO); specific surface area is between 5–20 m³/g, and apparent specific volume is between 6–8.5 mL/g.

Applications: Active magnesium oxide is an important raw material for the preparation of high-performance fine inorganic materials, electronic components, inks, and adsorbents for harmful gases. It holds potential for development into advanced materials used under harsh conditions such as high temperatures and high corrosion. It can also serve as a filler in paints, paper, and cosmetics, as a filler and reinforcing agent in plastics and rubber, and as an auxiliary material in various electronic materials.
